Be Your Own Storyteller: Melody Cooper

We interviewed visionary storyteller Melody M. Cooper in the wake of her selection to the Meryl Streep funded IRIS Writer’s Lab for her project The Sound of Darkness.

She also landed a 2016 Shudder Labs Fellowship from AMC Networks and is also winner of the Women in Cinema International Screenplay competition. Melody M. Cooper is no stranger to storytelling. She started in theatre with her plays Northern Cross, Breaking the Fourth and Sweet Mercy all winning critical awards and accolades. Find out more about The Sound of Darkness and her unique partnership with the Black and Missing Foundation and their cause, which drives the film.

Melody has a particular affinity for the untold story, and tells us about her journey forward. She is the Director of Talent Acquisition at BET Networks (a division of Viacom), and is based in New York.
