Helping Professionals To Use Story to Transform Communities

Self Care for Teachers – What’s your story?

Our SXSW EDU 2019 session “Be Your Own Answer: Self Care for Teachers” was an amazing success. Overwhelmed by traumatic school-based events, “active killer” training, and ever-changing high-stakes testing, public school teachers may feel stepping into a classroom is a life-altering decision. It’s certainly an emotional one. This session shared insights from an award-winning teacher who began a self-care movement to support dedicated teachers, with tips from an award-winning principal who on her first assignment transformed the toxic environment of a fractured school to a healed, collaborative space.

What’s your story?

Have you figured out how to carve time and space for yourself, while still serving the needs of your very special students? Or do you find yourself exhausted?

Our goal is to create a sacred community of professionals through stories of growth, healing and even failure. We can’t afford to lose good teachers to burnout when the world is shifting so rapidly.

Everything is very open with a really clear explanation of the issues. It was truly informative. Your site is very helpful. Many thanks for sharing. Morena Frederich Aurelius

  2. Me-time is usually last on the agenda. Worse, we can sometimes feel guilty about taking the time required to take care of ourselves. So getting started with self-care can be challenging.
